Mission Work
The Community Church of Harrisville and Chesham is grateful to be able to support a diverse group of charitable organizations which spans continents and cultures. While some of these do their work far away among peoples experiencing extreme poverty and societal challenges, others labor closer to home to feed, clothe, and house the economically disadvantaged of our region or to help those desperate to seek refuge in our country as they flee untenable conditions at home. Each of the following organizations can be chosen on our giving page for a dedicated financial gift.
Hundred Nights, Inc
Helping individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness with respect, dignity and compassion since 2010.
Our Mission: To provide shelter and crisis related services to those at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
Our Goal: To collaborate with and educate the community to see, hear and support those among us who are equally deserving of dignity but who currently lack the means to live independently.
Our Vision:A community whose members, regardless of means, are equally valued and supported.
Community Kitchen
Going beyond familiar boundaries is not easy. For this journey, hold off on the GPS, you won’t find us or yourself. This adventure requires patience and an honest and courageous self-assessment. We speak about cultivating curiosity and compassion, focusing on perspective taking. Catherine states simply, “We are not what we know but what we are willing to learn.”
As we strive for a fuller understanding of ourself and others, we move closer to the possibility of learning and loving across differences. We find that sameness and difference, seemingly a perpetual duality, are really two-sides of the same coin. Our complex world is filled with ambiguity and paradox.
Project Home
Since 2019 Project Home has assisted over 40 individuals, single and in family groups, from around the world to create stable lives in the Monadnock Region while awaiting the outcome of their asylum cases. Project Home provides legal, educational and medical support and transitions our guests from a home stay to independent living over a two year period.
Yanapanakusun
Yanapanakusun offers shelter, education and work training for young women trafficked from the Peruvian countryside to the city of Cuzco.
Balikatan
Balikatan, an organization of Filipinos living in Canada and the United States, supports the campus ministry of the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship / Philippines through fundraising, prayer and outreach to the Filipino community around the world.
St. Luke's Leprosarium
Heal the sick and preach the Gospel with the guiding principle of restoring health, hope, and dignity to the people affected by leprosy.
Vellore Christian Medical College
The Christian Medical College Vellore, located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India, is an unaided minority educational institution established in the year 1900. Started as a single-bedded clinic, under the leadership of Dr. Ida Sophia Scudder, the only daughter of second-generation American missionaries, it grew into a full-fledged medical college imparting education in medical, nursing and allied health sciences. Today, it is one of the top-ranked educational, healthcare and research institutes in the country.
We seek to be a witness to the healing ministry of Christ through excellence in education, service and research.
Monadnock Interfaith Project
Monadnock Interfaith Project is a non-profit coalition of congregations, organizations, and individuals in southwestern New Hampshire. We are wholehearted people working together to foster interfaith community, understanding, and positive systemic change in our local region. Through the Monadnock Interfaith Project (MIP), we come together to put faith into action.
One Great Hour of Sharing
Gifts to One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) support the work of disaster, refugee and development ministries domestically and globally. One Great Hour of Sharing has an ecumenical history of shared promotional resources, but funds are distributed through the respective denominations. For the UCC, the Global HOPE team partners with organizations around the globe modeling mutual support and accompaniment in the sharing of gifts. OGHS has raised millions for emergency disaster relief, educational opportunities, clean water access, health care, and more for many decades.
